Statement from the TSHC Board of Directors

By August 24, 2022No Comments

TORONTO, August 24, 2022—The Toronto Seniors Housing Board of Directors has released the following statement:

Today, we announced the appointment of Summer Nudel as Interim Commissioner of Housing Equity. Her appointment is effective immediately.

Summer is a client-focused leader and trusted advisor who brings more than 15 years of experience in social work, teaching, mediation, affordable housing and social justice program management to the role. She was a member of the inaugural OCHE team, serving as an Early Resolutions Officer from 2014 to 2017, and rejoined the team last year as a Senior Advisor. She has a deep understanding of OCHE’s role as an independent accountability office within TSHC.

Summer’s appointment follows the departure of the inaugural commissioner, Cynthia Summers, who has joined the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation as Chief Executive Officer. It builds on the constructive and collaborative working relationship that OCHE enjoys with both Toronto Seniors Housing and Toronto Community Housing, which has led to positive, systemic change for the benefit of tenants and communities across Toronto.

“We look forward to working with Summer as she guides the OCHE team in delivering its mandate of preventing evictions and supporting positive outcomes for all tenants.”

– Fareed Amin, Chair, Toronto Seniors Housing Board of Directors
